I want to acknowledge all the wonderful mother writers out there creating meaningful literature about the motherhood experience. Not your how-to parenting book, but substantial thought provoking analysis of what parenting is really like. Their work has inspired me to live a more authentic life, has lifted my spirits, given me hope when I was down, encouragement when I needed it, something to laugh at just at the right time, and validation for the myriad of feelings that I've been surprised can be so contradictory at times.

Writers that I want to thank from the bottom of my heart are:

Andrea Buchanan, author of Mother Shock and of LiteraryMama.com
Anne Lamott, author of numerous important works such as Traveling Mercies and Operating Instructions
The editors of Brain, Child
Naomi Wolf
Jane Lazarre
Michelle Herman
Sylvia Plath
Faulkner Fox
Adrienne Rich
Alice Walker
Sara Ruddick
Susan Griffin
And especially the Zine Mamas: Ayun Halliday of The East Village Inky, Rhonda Baker of Zuzu and The Baby Catcher, Ariel Gore of Hip Mama, Stacey Greenberg of Fertile Ground, Nicole of Hausfrau, Kate Haas of Miranda. Thank you for your honesty, your activism and support of mamas of all walks.

Inspired by these truth-tellers, and through writing here, I hope to discover just what it is I need to say, and say what I mean.
